The Scottish Egg Producer Retailers' Association was formed in 1970
to counter the adverse effect of the loss of the British Egg Marketing Board, which among many other services, provided for
the purchase of surplus eggs from producer retailers.
By bringing Scottish egg producers together, it was possible
to form an egg exchange within the association to enable a base price to be established. This proved to be most successful
and continues today.
SEPRA also acts as a collective voice for the Scottish Egg industry with the Scottish and
UK Governments the the UK industry through its membership of the British Egg Industry Council.
The association
produces weekly market reports complete with current egg pricing information for members and enjoys wide ranging expertise
relating to the industry such as market trends, organic production, food, hygiene and health, retail standards and supply
chain management.
If you are involved in the Scottish egg industry as a producer and/or retailer and wish to join
the association, please contact us.
